Common Scab of Potato Caused by Streptomyces Species

BUL1074

May 30, 2024

Common scab of potato is a plant disease caused by several plant pathogenic bacteria in the genus Streptomyces. The unsightly cork-like lesions, which range from relatively superficial to deep pits, develop on potato tuber surfaces, reducing a crop’s marketability. In this five-page illustrated bulletin, learn the 14 species types of Streptomyces that cause this worldwide disease, plus the symptoms of an afflicted potato, the disease cycle and the cultural, chemical and biological options that make up the disease’s extremely challenging management.
