Raven Scholars Faculty and Staff Resources

Raven Scholars is here to provide insight, support and knowledge about individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to members of the University of Idaho campus and Moscow community.

The Raven Scholars program Associate Director would be happy to meet with faculty and/or staff to problem solve issues with individual students, or to provide general education on working with individuals on the autism spectrum. Presentations can be tailored to meet your department's needs. Please contact Leslie Gwartney at leslieag@uidaho.edu or 208-885-8807.

To request a training for your faculty, staff or students on how to work with neurodiverse individuals, please email ravenscholars@uidaho.edu. We will be happy to design a training to fit your needs.

Other resources:

Finding Your Way, A College Guide for Students on the Spectrum is a free, printable, downloadable guidebook created by the Organization for Autism Research (OAR.) Their website also offers general Information for Educators, and A Professor's Guide to help you gain understanding about working with individuals on the spectrum in a college setting.

The College Autism Network (CAN) is a national nonprofit organization engaged in evidence-based efforts to improve access, experiences and outcomes for college students with autism.

The Autism Self Advocacy Network (ASAN) can provide some insight into the world of those with ASD.

Students with Asperger Syndrome: A Guide for College Personnel is a slightly dated, but excellent resource for gaining understanding of the challenges for ASD students, as well as strategies for the faculty and staff working with those individuals.

Supporting College and University Students with Invisible Disabilities is another good resource as the needs of many individuals with less obvious disabilities, such as ASD, ADHD, anxiety and depression, can often go unnoticed.
