Satellite Location Clinical Services

University of Idaho Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC) on campus is here to help you. We are offering telehealth (online) clinical services to U of I students at our five satellite locations.

Online Services

Services available through the CMHC:

  • Counseling sessions — Our team of social workers and psychologists are available for individual counseling services, groups and workshops, initial psychiatric consultations and case management.
  • Initial Psychiatric Consultations — If medication is needed for your mental health, our psychiatric nurse practitioner is here to help.
  • Case Management — Our Case Manager can help you find the resources that you need.
  • Groups and Workshops — Build coping mechanisms, and gain tools and skills to help with many aspects of managing your mental health.
  • Same-day/crisis services — Available online during normal CMHC business hours. Access support 24/7 through Protocol by calling 208-885-6716 option 3.
  • Alcohol and drug services — Help is available for you and fellow students who have concerns or are experiencing substance issues.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Counseling and Mental Health Center's (CMHC) staff of psychologists, social workers, supervised doctoral interns and graduate students offers students a wide range of counseling services, resources and referrals.

The CMHC is committed to offering services via telehealth that are inclusive and respectful of all students, regardless of race and/or ethnicity, sex, color, religion, spirituality, creed, national origin or ancestry, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability or veteran status.

Any University of Idaho student who is enrolled either half-time or full-time capacity is eligible for services at the CMHC, including students enrolled at satellite locations.

Students enrolled at a satellite location can contact the CMHC by phone at 208-885-6716 or via email at cmhc@uidaho.edu. One of the CMHC Administrative Assistants will contact you to schedule an appointment.

The appointment will be held on Zoom, you will receive the Zoom information prior to your scheduled appointment via email.

The CMHC practices from a time-limited model. Most students can access approximately 6-8 individual therapy sessions per semester.

The CMHC has a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who meets with students for psychiatric consultations and medication evaluations. Students will typically be referred to a medical practitioner in their home community for on-going treatment.

Crisis telephone counseling is available after hours and on weekends 365 days a year by calling 208-885-6716.

Same-day appointments are available during normal business hours for students experiencing a crisis.

The Counseling and Mental Health Center is located in Mary E. Forney Hall Room 306. We are open from Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PST

There is no cost for individual counseling.

A $25 fee is assessed for all psychiatric consultations. This fee is assessed to your student account. The CMHC does not bill insurance.

You may want to schedule an appointment with your primary care provider in your home community who can provide referrals to practitioners.

You can also schedule an appointment with our case manager at the CMHC who may be able to assistant with coordinating referrals for a provider in our area.
