4-H Afterschool

4-H Afterschool works in over half of Idaho counties. It has put 4-H tested educational materials into Idaho schools and community centers since 1990.

Family Benefit

Youth in 4-H Afterschool can benefit from 4-H without joining a club. They learn life skills in a fun, hands-on way.

Parents know that their youth are in a constructive environment. The programs are run by staff and trained volunteers. Topics vary, but can include:

  • science and technology
  • visual, cultural and theater arts
  • crafts
  • financial literacy
  • nutrition
  • food preparation
  • health and physical activity
  • citizenship

Community Benefit

4-H gives custom training to staff and volunteers at each site. 4-H curricula are age-appropriate and kid-tested.

The Children, Youth and Families At Risk grants (CYFAR) fund Afterschool in several counties.
